Eiji Kai (甲斐 栄二, Kai Eiji) is an anime only character in the Kimikiss: Pure Rouge anime. He is Mao Mizusawa's 3rd year classmate who plays the saxophone and works in a jazz bar. Initially, he does not get along with Mao, but he gradually opens up to her that they date for a while. Unfortunately, she breaks up with him after she admits her feelings for Kōichi Sanada to him and they remain friends.
When Kōichi asked him if they can talk, he was willing to talk to Kōichi about Mao. Kouichi asked him to take good care of Mao. Eiji asked why, and Kouichi told him ever since he was little before Mao moved to Paris he wanted to take care of her and to never let her cry.
Etymology[]
- The name Eiji means "flourish, prosperity, honor, glory, splendor" (栄) (ei) and "two" (二) (ji).
- Eiji's surname Kai means "worth, avail, effect, result, use" (甲斐).
